Books we're reading:We have been reading many different titles that have to do with book handling, how to check out a book, etc. Author's we're studying: Coming Soon!We've just been having so much fun doing everything else that we forgot to pick an author that we love. Maybe next month.
Activities we're working on: We've been working on how to hold a book the proper way. How to turn pages, and how to carry our books. We've also been working on how to check out and return books. They are told they may keep the book for one night, if they want it longer they need to bring it back the next morning and ask if they can keep it another night. We understand that sometimes a book can't be read in one night, so just renew it! Ask your child how they have to check out a book or how to use a shelf marker to take a book off the shelf. You may need to know this: We tell them to greet whoever is at the circulation desk, tell them their first and last name, then tell their teacher's name. It's a lot for them to do, but with practice they do it quite nicely. Ask your child about our Shelf Elf who lives in the library. His name is Scead and he loves to read! He also loves to receive mail in his mailbox located in the library. When he gets a letter from someone he always sends back a letter to that person. He's been kind of lonely lately and not receiving much mail.
